The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which is part of a special task force investigating allegations against 1MDB and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, will be asked to table its findings in Parliament.

This is according to the bi-partisan special committee on corruption (JKMR), one of five panels overseeing MACC.

"According to the MACC Act 2009, it is the responsibility of JKMR to make a special report to the prime minister and also present the report to Parliament every year.

"In this matter, JKMR will ask that MACC present in detail its findings in Parliament when their investigation is completed," said JKMR chairperson Abu Zahar Ujang, who is also Dewan Negara speaker.

Among others, the task force is also investigating the claim that RM2.6 billion was deposited into the prime minister’s personal bank accounts.

Abu Zahar ( photo ) urged the public not to question the credibility of the task force which is investigating the matter.

He described the case as very important' and affecting the country's interests.

Back task force call

"As the investigation goes on, it is hoped that all quarters will support and trust the task force," he said.

He also critcised new PAS splinter movement Gerakan Harapan Baru for claiming the task force was out to cover up the case, a claim which he said was 'malicious' and 'irresponsible'.

He reminded all representatives in the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara not to forget their oath of loyalty to the country and to defend the federal constitution.

Other members of JKMR are Dewan Negara deputy speaker Doris Sophia Brodi, Kuala Selangor MP Irmohizam Ibrahim, Parit Sulong MP Noraini Ahmad, Kepong MP Tan Seng Giaw, Indera Mahkota MP Fauzi Abdul Rahman and Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan.
