An Umno leader who should take leave actually seems hell bent on burying the party, a Johor Umno leader lamented today.

"We feel sad that this leader is willing to destroy Umno even though his father and mother fought for the party.

"This leader should go on leave, step back. We don't want to see this party our grandparents built buried," deputy Pagoh Umno division chief Ismail Mohamed said.

Speaking at the division's annual meeting, he said he hoped this leader would realise the grassroots could not stand to see Umno crumble.

While he did not mention names, Ismail said this leader had also transferred  MACC officers.

He was referring to yesterday's transfer of two senior MACC officers to the Prime Minister's Department in the midst of the commission probing large deposits into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts.

"We have never seen MACC having to perform a solat hajat (special prayers) because they feel oppressed," he said.

He urged the commission to be left alone so the truth can be revealed.

Rebellion brewing

Ismail's speech comes as a rebellion brews in Johor following Najib's decision to sack Umno Pagoh chief Muhyiddin Yassin as his deputy premier.

Last week, the Kluang Umno approved a motion urging Najib to answer questions about 1MDB and Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder.

Tomorrow, the Pasir Gudang Umno division has urged its members to openly question the party president, who will be officiating their annual general assembly.
