Group of Eminent Malays (G25) spokesperson Noor Farida Ariffin described the transfers of police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers to the Prime Minister's Department as "unusual".

"It is unusual, especially if they don't follow proper procedures.

"It can't be done just by the heads of department," the retired diplomat told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

Noor Farida cited her own experience of moving from the legal service to the diplomatic corps.

"I had to ask permission from the Judiciary and Legal Service for my transfer, and then the Public Services Commission. They have to approve my transfer," she said.

As such she said, inter-department transfers must follow the proper procedures.

However, Noor Farida declined to say if the recent transfer imbroglio was unwarranted.

"You can draw your own conclusions," she said.

Noor Farida was commenting on the transfer of Special Branch deputy director Abdul Hamid Bador ( photo ), and aborted transfers of two MACC senior directors to the Prime Minister's Department.

Abdul Hamid claimed he was transferred out because he refused to carry out the agenda of certain quarters.

The two MACC directors were transferred to the Prime Minister's Department amid the graft buster's probe into 1MDB-linked firm SRC International Sdn Bhd, but were returned to MACC after a huge public outcry.

Noor Farida was speaking to reporters after a press conference at the Royal Lake Club in Kuala Lumpur, where the G25 read out a declaration signed by 69 NGOs calling for reforms amid the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's RM2.6 billion donation scandal.
