Former MCA president Chua Soi Lek has slammed his successor Liow Tiong Lai for failing to transform the party but the latter says he prefers to work on strengthening the party rather than respond to criticism.

“I will not comment on (Chua) because I have no time for him,” he told a press conference in MCA headquarters today while asked to comment on Chua’s remarks.

Yesterday, Chua slammed Liow saying in the past two years he did not see any transformation. “I only saw party headquarters being renovated for better feng shui ," said the former MCA president.

Liow then urged all party members to ensure MCA remains united. “Strengthen MCA. Let’s have no infighting and let’s work hard to transform the party.”

He also reiterated that MCA will stay in the BN coalition owing to the latter’s moderate way of ruling the country.

“Why we, MCA, still stay in BN? It’s to defend multi-ethnicity. We think that multiculturalism is very important to Malaysian nation. Don’t destroy it. Don’t allow by racist and religious extremism to replace it.”
