Electoral reform movement Bersih today revealed the breakdown of its funds raised for the Bersih 4 rally and challenged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to do the same.

According to Bersih, a total of RM2,647,361.74 was collected for the Aug 29-30 rally in Kuala Lumpur, of which the biggest chunk, RM2,064,652.74, came from donations.

Sales of T-shirts and scarfs netted RM553,914 and RM28,795 respectively.

As for expenses, including for pre-Bersih 4 preparations and during the 34-hour rally, the movement spent a total of RM664,052.52.

In other words, approximately 25 percent of the donation received has been spent by Bersih so far.

Bersih then pledged to use the remaining balance of RM1,983,309.22 for coming activities, which includes voter education, court costs and training costs.

"(Najib), we've shown ours. Show us yours now," Bersih committee member Thomas Fann said in reference to the RM2.6 billion political donation deposited into the prime minister's personal bank accounts, which is said to have come from a Middle Eastern source.

Earlier, Bersih chairperson Maria Chin has challenged Najib to reveal details of the "donation" he received, giving her pledge that Bersih will reveal its details first.

Prior to this, Najib accused Bersih of being hypocritical for asking him to reveal his accounts when the electoral reform movement does not want to disclose its accounts.

Bersih also disclosed a 2,126-page report which contained the names of all the donors.

"They are all Malaysians, either local Malaysians or overseas Malaysians. Not a single donor is from the Middle East," Fann quipped.

The account would be sent to the external auditor soon, Bersih treasurer Masjaliza Hamzah said.

Masjaliza also insisted that Bersih would not entertain the demand made by Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan that Bersih pays RM65,000 for "cleaning bill" from the Bersih 4 rally.
