Finance Ministry: 1MDB didn't amend financial statement

PARLIAMENT State investment firm 1MDB did not alter its financial statement for the year ending 2014, the Finance Ministry said.

It said this in yesterday's written reply in Parliament to Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara), who asked if 1MDB had amended its audited financial statement.

Pua asked if the statement submitted to the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) was different to the one it earlier filed.

The MP said examples of amendments included changing the term "substantially utilised" to "substantially set aside".

"1MBD only filed one set of audited financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2014 to CCM, without amendments," the ministry said.

Nik Faisal, Suboh to be quizzed 'soon'

In a separate written reply, the ministry said SRC International directors Nik Faisal Ariff Nik Othman Kamil and Suboh Md Yassin will be quizzed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission "soon".

SRC International, a Finance Ministry firm, was once a subsidiary of 1MDB.

It is part of an MACC investigation, after a Wall Street Journal expose alleging RM42 million flowed from SRC to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's account.

Najib, who is also finance minister, denied abusing public funds.

The Finance Ministry said Nik Faisal and Suboh are "making arrangements" to be interviewed by the anti-graft body.

As such, there is no question of removing them as directors, it said.

It was responding to Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai) who asked if the duo will be dropped from the board for refusing to cooperate with MACC.

The Finance Ministry's reply was more forthcoming than Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Paul Low who declined to say where the duo and 1MDB-linked businessman Jho Low are.

Paul Low was replying the Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) who wanted to know where Jho Low, Nik Faisal and Suboh, their citizenship status and whether they have been barred from leaving Malaysia.

"For now, the MACC cannot reveal these maters because it could jeopardise the investigations," the minister said.

Malaysiakini in September reported that MACC is preparing to send its officers abroad to quiz the trio.

MACC on Aug 22 issued a notice for the trio to appear before them to assist investigations.

Sources told Malaysiakini MACC has made contact with the trio's family members overseas.
