We can predict what Arul briefed MCA on 1MDB

YOURSAY | 'It would be surprising if 1MDB boss strayed away from stereotyped script...'

Inviting 1MDB chief not an endorsement, says MCA

Res Ipsa: Since efforts were taken by MCA to understand the problems at 1MDB, perhaps MCA should now enlighten the public as to what they learnt from 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

It would hardly be surprising if Arul said anything else apart from his stereotyped script on debt reduction and asset rationalisation and that he was brought in to 1MDB for that purpose.

Questions relating to past events causing the financial mess in the company will either be sidestepped or met with a plea of ignorance since he will maintain that such events took place before he came on board.

On action against the previous management team for various crimes committed, another standard answer would be that the matter is still under investigation. What therefore did MCA try to achieve by calling Arul?

My gut feeling is that this is just another sandiwara by MCA to tell the whole world that they are not just sitting on their backside over the mega fiasco.

Vijay47: I will go along with you, MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong and MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun, that you were being only pragmatic in wanting to hear from the other side of the RM2.6 billion coin.

But I am plenty interested to know your evaluation of the many issues Arul will no doubt explain at your forum. He has been doing it almost since time immemorial and going by the facts on the table, nobody has believed a word he had to share. Except perhaps Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak.

FellowMalaysian: Chew Mei Fun said MCA is a mouthpiece for the people. Does this mean that I, a non-member, can just walk into your 'Malaysia's Economic Outlook Forum' and field my many questions and queries about 1MDB to Arul Kanda without having them first vetted by the forum's lofty committee?

Victor Johan: Why doesn't MCA invite the 1MDB chairperson, the prime minister cum finance minister who has all the true answers, to come to this forum so MCA can be a mouthpiece for the rakyat and not merely for Premier Najib Abdul Razak? Why didn't you?

Amaterasu no Mikado: MCA is no mouthpiece of the people or the ethnic minority it purportedly represents. Your dismal showing in several of the previous general elections indicates that you can barely survive as a political party. Let's call a spade a spade, and just say that you are your own mouthpiece and no one else's.

James_3392: Anonymous 1421406986 , MCA has the right to call Arul? The word used was invite, not call. When invited, he was a guest, he could choose not to come, and he could choose his topics.

And let's get real, Arul didn't even bother to explain to the cabinet and the DPM on the affairs of 1MDB. Let's see what MCA can get out of him that the cabinet and DPM couldn't.

Wee Ka Siong, you are daydreaming. When this Arul didn't find it necessary to brief the cabinet including the then DPM on the affairs of 1MDB, you expect him to tell the truth to MCA.

Shibboleth: Who would dare to ask pointed questions? I know how this Q&A probably went:

“Is 1MDB solvent?”

“Yes!” replies Arul.

"Can the debt problem be resolved?"

"Yes!" says Arul.

Finally, "Is the PM involved in day to day decisions?"

“Certainly not," retorts Arul, "He just instructs me in the evening on the mobile. "

Hplooi: What transpired is predictable:

Q1: Where is the 2.6 billion?

A1: All lies. Lies recycled by the opposition based on tampered documents admitted by Justo.

Q2: Why so much debt?

A2: Again, lies which we have repeatedly rebutted. 1MDB has RM50 billion in assets as against RM46 billion in debt.

Q3: When is 1MDB going to be profitable?

A3: We are now going through debt rationalisation which will see 1MDB profitable again. Give us another six months.

BUT if we fail it is all because of the opposition who tell lies to the international investing community.

Q4: Why did 1MDB need to rack up so much debt?

A4: 1MDB is a sovereign fund which was only allocated RM1 million by the government. Debt is needed to leverage Malaysia into big time international investor status and to encourage local development. It is all in our report.

Q5: Did 1MDB contravene foreign fund repatriation laws?

A5: AG says no problem. All lies by the opposition. Who is Zeti?

Applause by MCA members.

Q6: Sir, you said another six months. From when?

A6: Don't nit-pick (bodyguard closes in).

Joe Lee: "I told them; MCA is not the government mouthpiece, MCA is not the 1MDB mouthpiece, MCA is a mouthpiece for the people...".

Hello. MCA has seven MPs, and none of them are in Chinese majority seats - so how can they be the mouthpiece for the people?

Odin Tajué: Wee Ka Siong, it is a time-wasting thing for you to have Arul brief your followers. There is nothing wrong with 1MDB. Its business has always been going along fine. Sure it has debts, but the debts it has now to shoulder were incurred by the independent power producers whose businesses 1MDB has bought over to save Malaysia from being further burdened.

1MDB's management comprises financial wizards who will not only turn the companies around but also make them highly profitable and increase their values.

All the negative things about 1MDB, SRCI, Arul, Jho Low, Casey Tang, Jasmine Loo, Nik Faisal, Suboh, and Najib have been fabricated and publicised by the Chinese, Christians, Jews, the Mossad, the opposition and several Orang Putih only to discredit 1MDB and Malaysia.

These parties are very envious of the great successes chalked up by 1MDB, the best sovereign debts fund in the world, and Malaysia, the best kleptocracy in the world. And, of course, MCA represents the people - the handful who are blinded to reality by their stupidity and avarice, and which includes you.

Justine Gow: You invited someone who was alleged to have burglarised your home to meet with your family members to explain what actually happened during the burglary. Does this make sense? Do you think he would admit he was the burglar (if he was the one) to you and your family members?

Quigonbond: That's fine. We're not really interested how you justify inviting him to the forum. Just tell us what Arul said, did you agree with what he said, and did you ask all the critical questions that needed to be asked? Otherwise, it'll be just a sign of tacit consent from MCA on what he's doing, making MCA just as culpable.

Sleepy: MCA can call anyone. I really don't care. Nevertheless I believe that 'birds of feather flock together'.
