Selangor PAS' declaration of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) as its enemy is a clear sign of "turmoil" within the state ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition, said Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

"We have always known that they are in a state of turmoil. Let them continue to be in turmoil," said Tengku Adnan during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur after launching the Malaysian Indian Muslims Congress (Kimma) headquarters.

The Federal Territories minister was asked to comment on Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad's statement this morning , that the Islamist party plans to contest in 25 seats in the next general election.

"We will leave it to PAS. We don't want to comment on another party's matter but as I have said, the opposition parties are like lalang (when it comes to political cooperation)," he said referring to the weed which sways according to the wind.

"Only BN has a solid stand," he said.

During the 13th General Election, PAS had won 15 out of the 20 seats it contested for.

Since then, two of its assemblypersons - Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnol Baharudin (Morib) - has left the party to join Amanah.

Pakatan Harapan had yesterday inked its common agreement pact but have yet to make a stand on its relationship with PAS, as well as on hudud.

Tengku Adnan claimed this was a "common" tactic by opposition parties.

"They always 'swing' this way and that. We (Umno) are the only party that has always remained committed to our core struggle.

"They (opposition parties) will only support issues when it benefits them...," he claimed.

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli had said that unlike the loose Pakatan Rakyat coalition, Harapan parties would decide on issues such as hudud and local council elections via consensus.

“We will unveil this at the Pakatan Harapan convention in June,” he was quoted as saying.

Disagreement over hudud, the Islamic penal code, had been one of the main factors which led to the breakup of Pakatan Rakyat.
