EC deaf, dumb and blind to money swirl in Sarawak

YOURSAY | ‘They are so confident that no action will be taken by the EC…’

DPM dishes out RM250k to cops, vows more depending on who they 'cross'

Speaking Sense: DAP and PKR should display this picture (above) of a spineless leader (SUPP president Dr Sim Kui Hian) of a component party of BN at their ceramah, smiling foolishly as he is being "bullied" and ‘humiliated’ like a schoolboy while threats and bribes are being dished out by his master.

No shame, no honour. What a disgrace. He won't dare bang on the table, but he will certainly wipe the table for the master's feet.

Kim Quek: This is the most blatantly naked election bribery openly committed and reported in the current Sarawak election campaign!

If the culprit gets away with that, then forget about elections in Malaysia, for it is a complete farce and an insult to all Malaysians.

DPM-cum-Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was virtually telling his police officers point-blank that he will allocate to them so much money and even offer promotion, but only if they vote for his candidate. No vote, no talk!

He talks as if we have no law, that the Election Offences Act 1954 is non-existent, and that our Election Commission (EC) is deaf, dumb and blind to his breaches of election laws. That he can openly offer public funds to fish for votes with full impunity.

Zahid should immediately be reported to the EC and the police for breach of Section 10 (a) of the Election Offences Act 1954, where it is stated unequivocally that a person shall be deemed guilty of the offence of bribery if he offers money or valuable consideration to induce votes.

Headhunter: Indeed, if this is not bribery, what is?

Swipenter: There is nothing to suggest that Umno-BN can win elections based on policies alone. Without fail they would give handouts, promise development if you vote for them, play the race and religious card and threaten voters with punishment if they vote the opposition.

It is unthinkable that in this day and age, any government would punish its own citizens for not voting them and play vindictive politics.

But then again, even when I was just a little boy, my parents said the same thing about the Alliance - now BN: a kind of vindictive politics unleashed on constituencies that did not vote for them.

I became eligible to vote since 1976 but vindictive politics has not lessened one single bit today, if not worse, than during my parents' time.

Negarawan: PM Najib Abdul Razak's government does not have any money to cover the billions of allocations promised within the last one week.

If one totals up all the Umno-BN allocations, it would have probably exceeded the budget cuts announced by Najib not too long ago.

Sarawakians, especially those in the rural areas, should open their eyes and realise that all of Najib's promises are empty. After so many cycles of elections over the last 50 years, why has Umno-BN not been able to provide even the basic amenities?

They promise electricity but only electrical poles are put up; piped water, but only cheap water tanks are provided. Children still have to trudge through dangerous paths to their schools every day.

In the meantime, Umno-BN politicians have allegedly been busy enriching themselves with the vast natural resources. Haven't Sarawakians learnt any lesson from the past, or do they need to learn the hard way yet again?

Sarawakians need to wake up from their deep slumber, for their own sake and that of Malaysia.

Fear: Many, many, many years from now, the Malaysian election will become like this – Party A: Vote for us and if we win, every one of you will get RM100,000. Party B: Vote for us and if we win, every one of you will get RM200,000. Party C: Vote for us and if we win, every one of you will get RM300,000.

Party C wins the election and forms the next government and they pass a new law call bribery gain tax where the government will tax you based on the amount of bribe you took. The tax rate is 120 percent.

Lukesky: They are so confident that no action would be taken by the EC that they are brazenly offering vote-buying bribes in broad daylight.

They would like us to believe that, just by coincidence, the candidate seems to be present as the home minister is having a meeting with the police force in Sarawak - and it so happens to be during the Sarawak election campaign. They must think we are all idiots.

Lamborghini: This is shameless, blatant outright bribery and incentive to vote on the promise of cash. It can't get more blatant, arrogant or cruder than this. EC, where are you?

Sarawakians and Malaysians, wake up and fight against this kind of shameless politics.

GE14Now: The EC stands for ‘Encouraging Corruption’ and will therefore not take any action against this man.

The whole system is so corrupt that just getting rid of Najib will not change anything. His deputy is already openly bribing the people (and of course with the bribe comes the tacit threat, which is that if you don't vote for the BN, there will be no money).

What a disgusting lot of politicians.

True: Open vote buying at this age! Cash is king. Umno, PBB, Sim Kui Hian were all at the event. Nobody feel ashamed, except us Malaysiakini readers?
