Hadi: Support PAS because 'moon' can't be turned upside down
SG BESAR POLLS PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today quipped that the 'moon' is the only logo which cannot be turned upside down and so the people should throw their support for its candidate, Dr Rani Osman, in Sungai Besar.
"You turn the 'dacing' it will be upside down. The Amanah triangle can also be upside down.
"But the moon is round and so you cannot turn it upside down," Hadi said at a function organised by PAS Non-Muslim Supporters wing at the Bagan Sungai Besar community Hall in Sungai Besar.
In his speech, Hadi also sought to reassure the crowd of some 300 people that his Private Member's Bill to amend Act 355 will not affect them in any way.
He pointed out that there have always been two sets of laws to accommodate both Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia.
"For example, when it comes to marriage, you cannot have just one set of marriage law.
"Each religion will get married differently," he said, adding that one set of law was required on other matters, for example driving.
Hadi further reiterated that the proposed amendments would only expand existing jurisdiction of the syariah court and not affect the non-Muslims.
In rallying support for Rani, Hadi said electing an Umno candidate to Parliament would see someone who would support any motion by the government.
"Good or bad, Umno supports all. PAS will oppose what is not good and support what is good.
"If Amanah led by DAP, good or bad, they will oppose all," he said, taking a swipe at PAS-splinter Parti Amanah Negara.
Earlier in his speech, PAS Supporters’ Congress (DHPP) Selangor treasurer Kong Tuck Wah also said only "bad Muslims" should fear the amendments.
"People who sell heroin, sell guns, if they get hanged you (critics) kept quiet. The law is only for 'bad' Muslims.
"All here are good Muslims so they don't fear the amendments," he said.
Hadi's Private Member’s Bill or officially named the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016 was also referred to as the "Hudud Bill" as it would ultimately pave the way for the partial implementation of the Islamic penal code in PAS-ruled Kelantan.
