PAS is confident that the conflict between Orang Asli and forestry department over logging issues in Gua Musang will not cause the party to lose power in Kelantan.

"At this point, we are not worried about the issue," PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan told a press conference today.

"From how I see it, this is merely perception created by some parties to topple the Kelantan state government, capitalising on the timber issue."

The local Orang Asli community, the Temerloh MP claimed, had agreed to the state government's position during meetings between the two parties.

On Malay rights pressure group Perkasa's criticisms against Kelantan PAS for focussing on logging to generate revenue instead of other means, Nasrudin (photo) said Ibrahim was welcomed to contribute ideas.

"If he said we have run out of ideas (on developing the state), then ask him to contribute his ideas," he said.

Ibrahim had urged the Kelantan government to capitalise on its forests by turning it into tourist destinations instead of using it for timber revenue.

"If in Singapore, they have Sentosa Island, we can build a Universal Studios in Kelantan. We can build a traditional themed Disneyland as we have forests.

"People can play tarzan and swing into the swamps," Ibrahim had said.

Orang Asli community from the remote area of Gua Musang had claimed the deforestation by logging caused them to lose their livelihood and polluted their water source.

They continued to hold blockades to stop the logging activities. More than 30 activists were arrested since last November.
