In a new twist, PAS has poured cold water on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Muhyiddin Yassin's claim that the relationship between Bersatu and the Islamist party was getting warmer.

PAS deputy spiritual adviser Ahmad Yakob denied that his party had agreed to negotiate seat allocations for the general election with Bersatu, Utusan Online reported today.

"No, we have not received any information that PAS has invited Bersatu for seat allocations.

"We have only given each other the space to stand on the same stage to talk about our own fights," Ahmad reportedly said to reporters in Ketereh, Kelantan, today.

He also stressed that the decision to allocate seats for the general election was the absolute right of each state PAS commissioner.

Muhyiddin had yesterday said that ties between PAS and Bersatu were becoming warmer.

He also said that after many attempts to forge ties, PAS had finally invited his party to discuss seat negotiations.

"This is the way forward," he had said then.
