The police will investigate all 28 Perak state assemblypersons, including Pakatan Rakyat's ousted menteri besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin and Speaker V Sivakumar, over an illegal assembly in front of the state secretariat building in Ipoh on Tuesday.

However, a news report said that police recorded a statement from DAP’s Pasir Pinji state representative Thomas Su at the Ipoh police headquarters yesterday.

Zulkifli said the six were identified from photographs obtained from the media on the illegal assembly when police cordoned the area.

"We have also identified several others who took part in the illegal assembly to have their statements taken," he said.

Zulkifli said those identified would be investigated under Section 27 (5) of the Police Act 1967 for taking part in an illegal assembly.

Meanwhile, police were investigating 31 cases, including 12 for illegal assembly, two under the Sedition Act 1948 and three under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984, with the investigation papers to be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor soon for further action.

Perak has been in turmoil since Barisan Nasional seized control of the state following the defection of four Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons.
