Reinforcement of CMCO proves the necessity of on-demand deliveries

Lalamove has recorded an all-time high demand from its SME clients amidst the current CMCO, beating the previous peak record of orders that took place in the first phase of MCO in March. This new record signalled the significance of on-demand delivery platforms in the fast-changing world due to the pandemic.

The goalpost for businesses has moved once again with the reinforcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). Businesses, particularly SMEs, have to reinvent themselves to stay relevant in a new world that has been changed by restricted movements and new standard operating procedures (SOPs).

As one of the leading on-demand delivery platforms in the market, Lalamove has achieved an all-time high in demand, especially from its SME clients during this CMCO with a steady week-on-week increase in its business delivery orders since early October 2020.

Lalamove’s track record, coupled with the diversity of SME clients from various industries, reflects the versatility of the on-demand delivery platform as a key business driver in these challenging times.

F&B industry forms the majority of Lalamove’s business deliveries, while clients from wholesale, trading, manufacturing, e-commerce and other industries comprise the rest of Lalamove’s business delivery demand profile. Home-based micro-entrepreneurs are also taking advantage of its on-demand delivery services. Syahinaz Abdul Majeed, who recently went viral with her ‘Nasi Lemak Kena Benti Kerja’ business, has been relying on Lalamove to deliver her nasi lemak to customers.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been shaping the on-demand logistics trends through changing consumer behaviours and expectations. Due to the urgency of physical distancing and minimising contact with the outside world, there has been a dramatic shift from in-person to online shopping. As such, modern consumers are investing more trust in the value of faster delivery at their doorsteps. Businesses that adapt to these changing demands by adopting on-demand deliveries in their operations have greater odds at success.

“Our clients are the ones embracing the changes to meet this demand and we are thankful to them for allowing us to be a part of their business transformation in the new normal. Without them, it would not be possible for us to reach this new heights in delivery demand despite the ongoing CMCO,” said Shen Ong, Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia.
