In case you haven’t heard, October is a special month for animals. We’ll give you a list of reasons for you to dust your party gears and get ready for a month of paw-some celebrations!
Let’s start with 4th of October – a date that has long been recognized as World Animal Day since the 1920s. This auspicious day was founded by writer and animal activist Heinrich Zimmermann with a mission to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe.
Meow lovers, you’ll love this one. 16th of October is Global Cat Day! It was once called National Feral Cat Day, initiated by Alley Cats Allies to raise awareness surrounding non-lethal feline programmes across the United States. In 2017, it was changed to Global Cat Day to reflect the scope of their work worldwide.
Reptile enthusiasts, mark 21st of October in your calendar as it’s a day to celebrate and educate the world on how stupendous our cold-blooded fwends are!
And of course, end the month with a bang with Halloween! Why not have a matching costume with your pets and bring them along for trick or treating? You’ll go home with a full basket of yummy treats for sure!
What October means to us at PETS
Little did we know that a conversation over dinner a couple of years back, casually expressing our frustration on pet care matters would be a significant turning point for us. It was the month when the ideation of PETS app came into play.
Let’s admit it, taking care of your pet children can be a challenge. As pet parents ourselves, we’ve always been exasperated with the common pains - losing our pets’ health cards, the struggle of finding reliable vet clinics, the love and hate relationship with pet shops who are often out of supplies … oh the list goes on.
With the global pet industry forecasted to grow to a staggering USD350 billion by 2027, you’d imagine things would’ve been made more convenient and integrated in line with the market growth. Have they really though? We believe there’s a big gap still. There are areas that could use some work.
Going back to that dinner we had years ago, at that point in time, we just wanted to be more organized. We wanted a place where we can find only pet-focused information, store our pets’ data and be able to access them wherever we may be. We figured, what better way than building an app to cater for these needs? And so, we did.
PETS app helps you to manage your pet care matters better
PETS app provides you with a reliable record-keeping platform where you can create your pets’ digital IDs and store their health and medical records, in one place. Opt for reminder alerts so that you wouldn’t miss your next appointments with the vet, groomer or any other appointments for that matter.
Our search feature assists you by listing only pet-related services such as vet clinics, pet shops and pet cafes nearby. Other practical features include reporting lost pets and animal abuse.
You’ll find the app very much warm for pet parents to share their wonderful pet stories. Since October is filled with purr-tastic celebrations, forget not to capture the moments with your pet children and spread the love by sharing them on PETS. And while you’re at it, be a sport and brighten other pets’ day by clicking them a treat.
Future plans
We have so much more in store for PETS. Truth to be told, we’d say we are only half way there. Being part of the Cohort 5 Virtual Global Accelerator Programme organised by Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) recently has been a great help in ensuring we are on the right track.
2022 is set to be a year full of new adventures. Amongst would be the launch of our online store, new feature release for business owners and partnerships to offer exciting products and services.
