KUALA LUMPUR, 21 August 2025: LGMS Berhad (‘LGMS’), one of Malaysia’s leading cybersecurity services providers, today announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with Azim Tunku Farik & Wong (‘ATFW’).

The collaboration was initiated by LGMS with the aim of reinforcing Malaysia’s cyber incident response ecosystem by bringing together legal, insurance and cybersecurity expertise to provide better protection and support for businesses facing digital threats.

“This collaboration comes at a time when cyber incidents in Malaysia are increasing in frequency while also growing in complexity, leaving many organisations vulnerable and unprepared,” said LGMS Chairman Fong Choong Fook after the Signing Ceremony with ATFW Partner Y.M Tunku Farik bin Tunku Ismail.

Also present to witness the occasion were LGMS Executive Director Goh Soon Sei and ATFW Partner Balakumar Balasundram.

He cited findings by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) which reported 4,626 cybersecurity incidents in 2024, a 43 per cent increase compared to 2020. In just the first half of 2025, NACSA records point to more than 2,300 incidents involving National Critical Information Infrastructure were already recorded.

Against this backdrop, organisations are increasingly turning to insurance-backed incident response protocols to mitigate the financial, legal and operational impact of breaches.

“Together, we offer businesses a more comprehensive and coordinated response, reducing the risk of prolonged disruption, reputational damage and financial loss,” said Fong.

“LGMS provides the specialised technical expertise required to investigate and contain cyber incidents, while ATFW brings the legal knowledge needed to navigate complex disputes and obligations.”

Earlier this year, LGMS was named as a Sample Vendor in Gartner® Market Guide for Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) Retainer Services (2025). (Source: Market Guide for Digital Forensics and Incident Response Retainer Services, 23 July 2025)*.

According to Gartner: “Security and risk management leaders should use this research to understand the DFIR market, evaluate trends, refine requirements and identify market players.”

Fong noted that LGMS’s inclusion in the Market Guide reflects the company’s role in delivering digital forensics and incident response services.

The collaboration complements LGMS’ work with international breach coaches, ensuring the company is positioned to support both cross-border and domestic cases. In practice, the arrangement ensures that insured clients are guided seamlessly from breach notification to forensic investigation, incident containment and eventual recovery.
