How does Honda e:HEV work?
Hybrid technology uses two sources of power, a gasoline engine and a motor that uses electric energy stored in batteries, for improved fuel economy. Honda's e:HEV full hybrid system intelligently switches between three driving modes to suit different road and driving conditions.
In EV Drive Mode, the vehicle runs solely on electric power, making it especially efficient during low-speed driving. In Hybrid Drive Mode, the electric motor powers the wheels while the petrol engine helps generate electricity to recharge the battery when needed. When driving at higher speeds, Engine Drive Mode allows the petrol engine to directly drive the wheels for greater efficiency.
By seamlessly switching between these modes, Honda's e:HEV system delivers a balance of fuel savings, performance and driving comfort.
Unlike conventional powertrains, the system relies primarily on the electric motor to drive the vehicle across most speed ranges, helping optimise efficiency while maintaining strong performance.
Running until 30 June 2026, the campaign highlights Honda's commitment to delivering hybrid vehicles that are not only efficient and environmentally friendly, but also fun to drive and dependable for everyday use.
The e-powertrain is available across Honda's growing hybrid line-up, including the CR-V, HR-V, Civic, City, City Hatchback and the highly anticipated All-New Prelude.
As part of the campaign, customers who purchase a Honda e:HEV model will enjoy an additional cash rebate* and 2 years' free labor cost*. Buyers will also receive entries into a monthly lucky draw for a chance to experience the All-New Prelude for one week* after its official launch.
Existing Honda hybrid owners are not left out. They can participate in the "Hybrid Done Right" social media contest by sharing their fuel consumption results from a full tank. The top performers stand to win a one-year free service package.

The All-New Honda Prelude is coming to Malaysia
Honda Malaysia has also opened bookings for the All-New Prelude, which is set to make its official Malaysian debut at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026). The 2+2 sports coupé will serve as the flagship of Honda's hybrid line-up and marks the brand's first hybrid sports coupé to be offered in Malaysia.
The model will be equipped with S+ Shift technology with Active Sound Control, designed to simulate gear shifts and enhance responsiveness through coordinated engine and dual-motor output.
