Malaysia’s ‘terrorist’ regime
On the face of it, I was entirely justified in not coming up with my regular column calumnising the BN regime last week. On my deadline day, Friday, first I had to sit a final anthropology exam, and then spent the rest of the day barely surviving a 42-degree heatwave.
But in actual fact I was simply lost for words. Utterly dumbstruck in the face of the tragic mess in the eternally muddled so-called Middle East, and global outrage and confusion in response to terrorist attacks in Lebanon, Paris and Mali.
And my sense of speechless confusion has been vastly increased since by Turkey’s shooting-down of a Russian fighter-bomber, and the UAE’s recruiting and training of South American mercenaries to throw into the civil war in Yemen.
Keep Malaysiakini independent!
Malaysiakini will be 18 this year. That we’ve survived this long is because of you.
Your support matters. A lot. Especially those who pay RM150 annually, RM288 biennially or RM388 triennially to keep Malaysiakini independent from government/opposition influence and corporate interests. Advertising alone will not keep Malaysiakini afloat.
Together, we’ve gone far. We’ve covered three prime ministers, four general elections, five Bersih rallies, and countless scandals. But the journey continues.
Help us deliver news and views that matter to Malaysians. Help us make a difference for Malaysia.
