
Abdullah defends decision to charge opposition leader
Sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim are hardly matters which can deflect attention from the problems currently plaguing the government, says the prime minister.








Permatang Pauh Umno chief Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid believes he has a good chance of upsetting opposition supremo Anwar Ibrahim if picked as the BN candidate.









This is in regards to a complaint made by an Umno veteran yesterday that the two top leaders had abused their powers in the run up to the party elections later this year.

The Permatang Pauh by-election will be held in three weeks. EC today announced that polling day is on Aug 26 with a 10-day campaigning period.
