Now that Seputeh MP YB Teresa Kok has finally admitted that the Bersih demonstration is exclusively held to uphold minority rights, this begs the question - what happened to the Malays who once thronged the street of Dataran Merdeka with them not long ago?

When our kids hurl abuse at other kids, we as parents reprimand our kids and tell them it is wrong and insensitive to do that. When we yell at people abrasively without any provocation, people around us will call us insane and have to ask us to calm down for our sanity. But when a Member of Parliament acts bizarrely choosing to tweet an insane quote, then who should reprimand him?

Come the Umno general assembly, we usually hear the same old rhetoric ie race-based bashing to the score of the ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ slogan. Nevertheless, the wise and decent-minded society at large has grown tired of such drama. Latest in the pipeline is not race-based bashing in general but MCA-bashing by senior leaders of Umno as well as the second most senior leaders in Umno which thereby diverts the foremost attention that this beloved country needs.

I refer to the statement by Ridhuan Tee wherein as reported in Free Malaysia Today (June 10, 2016) that he said that it is the right of the Muslim community for the government to spend MCA members’ tax money to build mosques and suraus as it is provided in the Federal Constitution.

I read Ridhuan Tee’s recent comment labelling “MCA is anti-Islam and Umno knows it” with great dismay. If MCA is indeed anti-Islam as he had described, then the Alliance that fought for independence would not have agreed to make Islam as the religion of the federation.
