Insensitive and bizarre remarks from a DAP Member of Parliament

When our kids hurl abuse at other kids, we as parents reprimand our kids and tell them it is wrong and insensitive to do that. When we yell at people abrasively without any provocation, people around us will call us insane and have to ask us to calm down for our sanity. But when a Member of Parliament acts bizarrely choosing to tweet an insane quote, then who should reprimand him?

In the case of Jeff Ooi, Member of Parliament from Jelutong, it just goes to show how insensitive DAP might be. To bizarrely reply as well as retweet an insensitive tweet and then add on, “Adios” and followed by “Let there be peace” shows a lack of maturity and insensitivity on his part in reference to the late PAS spiritual leader Haron Din’s passing.

It could mean a thousand things by saying “Adios” and more thousands of things, “Let there be peace”. A simple sentence for solace for the passing away of any person should just be, “RIP or Rest in Peace” should suffice.

But the Member of Parliament chose ambiguous words that can be provocative. Next, the Member of Parliament chose to cohort with the originating tweet writer which he retweeted earlier, to remove his tweet of the originating tweet. That is another act of a bizarre act agreeing with what the original tweeter wrote.

Why can’t a Member of Parliament from the opposition choose to act in a manner which befits a more human nature with feelings? People do come and go and pass on and the least we can do as a human is to offer our condolences with words that are acceptable to humanity.

Such action by Jeff Ooi is utterly cowardly and insensitive which doesn’t befit the status of a Member of Parliament, let alone the constituency which he represents. I hope such action does not turn into another racial or religion issue which his party has been accused off lately via such an example of provocative words.

He did tweet another tweet that read: “Went through news archives about #HaronDin’s role and stand that caused Pakatan Rakyat to finally breakup. He influenced Hadi or vice versa?” The Rakyat knows why Pakatan Rakyat broke up. The breakup was imminent right after the last general election because of difference in ideologies.

Isn’t Jeff Ooi’s party the one who sold the idea to the Malaysian non-Muslim community in particular and the general Malaysian public that PAS will never implement hudud, but his party boss signed off the agreement with PAS agreeing that their difference was only 5 percent and the Moon that they were signing with has the rights to implement a theocratic state on their own even though their ideologies differed?

Well, so many bizarre words and actions coming from a party and people in it. The public should treat them with caution and look at their inner skin for what they do and say represent their true deeds. As we continue to reprimand our kids, the people should reprimand their elected representative.
