The political animal that we all know
The people's perception of politicians' projections is paramount. American president Abraham Lincoln once opined that: ‘You can fool some people all the time and all the people some of the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time.’
Time will tell whether politicians are double-headed snakes, tricky monkeys, greedy pigs or loyal dogs.
Double-headed snakes are slimy reptiles and will bite you if you are not vigilant. They may say one thing but may do just the opposite. They are smooth-talkers and may coax you and sing lullaby songs and make you go to sleep. They may pretend to be 'nice' to you.
But beware. If an opportunity arises, they may betray you and swallow you up. The people should use a big stick and hit these snakes until they die. Let these dead snakes be preserved in bottles for exhibition in a museum.
Then there are the tricky monkeys. They may jump from branch to branch, depending upon where the fruits are. If offered some sweeteners, they will readily jump; and all principles of ethics and morality can fly out of the window.
And what is worse, traitorous as they are, they will shout that they have lost confidence in the leadership of the lion. They bring up trivial issues to cloud their evil motives and try to fool the people.
Never mind all the supporting animals who have sweated it out to win the prize of honourable state or federal member. The people should chop down all trees so that there are no branches for these monkeys to jump to.
Then there are the greedy pigs. No amount of food is enough: they want some more and some more. They want a big farm with a mansion. They want servants, gardeners, chauffeurs to cater to their voracious needs and wants.
They want to go on trips overseas under the pretext of study tours to see zoos and find out how their counterparts are faring. Of course, they may take in sideshows including on belly-dancing.
They may even acquire a sow (or boar) or two to keep them company. Back home, they want contracts; and get more animal feed (kick backs?) The people should slaughter such pigs and make ‘bah kut teh’. Have roasted pork as an appetiser.
Then, at long last, there are the loyal dogs. They wag their tails and keep guard of the house. They warn their masters of strangers - double-headed snakes, tricky monkeys and greedy pigs - and bark loudly that danger is at hand.
They will die with their masters even if there is ‘tsunami’, earthquake or typhoon. They will stick with their masters through thick and thin. People should keep loyal dogs and take good care of them for they will always serve their masters well.
