Let Zaid Ibrahim stand in Hulu Selangor. Don't underestimate the rakyat. Give them the reformist Zaid, a kampung boy who made good in life despite poverty.

He is proud that he was a third-grader who persevered and graduated in law from ITM (now UiTM). Despite coming from 'parochial' Kelantan :-) , he embraces diversity, fair play and democratic values.

The electorate make-up in Hulu Selangor approximates the national ethnic profile. Imagine what a wake-up call a win by Zaid will be for Umno/BN!

We know this will be a tough fight but let the people decide. Even if Zaid loses, he will still achieve a moral victory nationwide with this bold move.

Send BN a strong message that time is running out for them to reform or face defeat in the next general elections.

I am certain that civil society and NGO groups from across the nation will rally behind a Zaid candidacy to herald a new page in our struggle for a Malaysia that embraces unity in diversity instead of ‘divide and rule’.

Let us consign racist politicians to the archives of history before they damage our nation further. Hidup Rakyat, Hidup Malaysia!
