A local English daily had reported on Oct 19 that none of our universities has been listed in the yearly ranking for universities in 2011.

How the deputy secretary general of the Higher Education Ministry Rohani Abdullah can’t face reality is a shame, she should have accepted the fact that she and her office had failed in their duties to ensure that at least a few of our private and government run universities get into the list, if not into the Top 100 position.

She should have reported to the newspapers that the ministry would take stock of what had happened and how they intend to get our oldest university inside the list once again, instead of pointing fingers.

Better still, she should resign from her ministry posting and allow someone who has the capabilities and innovative ideas to get the universities back into the listing the next year.

No more lame excuses, just quit to prove that she cares and can accept responsibility for this failure.
