With regard to the outraged reader who argued that Malaysian doctors should just "keep quiet" if they are not interested in helping Ras Adiba, I would like to refresh our memory concerning the Malaysian government's stand on ex-deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim.

For those who have forgotten, the government had vehemently argued that Anwar need not go abroad (even when affordability was clearly not an issue) to get medical treatment for his neck (related to the spine, I believe) problem.

The reason: Malaysia has all the medical experts. As such, the comments made by Malaysian spine experts in relation to Ras Adiba's case are perfectly justified (and I believe, are done without malice).

Perhaps, it was a case of their compassion for Ras Adiba being "lost in the translation"? In any case, kudos to malaysiakini for offering a refreshing perspective on Ras Adiba's spine. Last but not least, like all Malaysians, I wish her well too.
