I am amazed at the furore over the allegations of government officials abusing public resources — be they man or machine — for private use. If this is seen as an abuse, it is small compared with many other exploits that take place right under our noses.

We should be more worried about the practice of appointing retired heads of government departments as directors of private companies which they have had dealings with prior to their retirement.

Just imagine the 'abuses' that can arise before and after their retirement. This is even more difficult to prove. The takings from here can be huge and much more costly to the nation.

This should not be condoned but it is. It would not happen in developed countries, but over here, Malaysia boleh !
