'Aliran' in our national language means 'flow'. For the past 25 years, the ideas, thoughts, opinions and convictions of Malaysians expression which is so vital for a vibrant democracy flowed freely on the pages of Aliran Monthly .

The recent announcement by Aliran that its monthly may have to cease publication, due to their financial resources running out soon, comes therefore as a shock to me and many.

The future of Aliran Monthly is in our hands. If each one of us were to act and subscribe to the monthly, we would be contributing significantly to "the flow".

Each of us would be like a small ripple that makes up the big wave of change that our country so needs.
