Lets ban Sanskrit words, too
The recent request by the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka chief to make the Malay language pure by not infusing it with other languages is commendable. Therefore, I have a short list of words borrowed from Sanskrit and are used everyday in Malaysia.
They are: bahasa , bakti , berita , budi , bumi , cahaya, guna , guru ,and of course, roti . Would the DBP chief please proclaim that these words are borrowed and ban us from using them?
Sanskrit is the language of the Indian people and it definitely shouldn't be allowed to tarnish the Malay culture. When can we expect the ban on Sanskrit words?
This is the 21st century and the 'first world infrastructure' nation still has people who have nothing else to do other than to make the average Malaysian a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.
