I refer to the report Gov't given 24hrs to comply with Anwar's medical needs .
Among other things, a speaker told the gathering mentioned that the doctor who most recently attended to the former deputy prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, had directed that he be warded due to the severity of the problem.
The directive would have been adhered to by the prison authorities; however, they pointed out that Anwar was no ordinary prisoner and as such, approval from higher authorities was needed.
And so, he remains in Sungai Buloh prison, deprived of emergency medical treatment the need of which will most certainly arise soon.
How Umno, the police and the judiciary can honestly believe that the former DPM received fair trial and treatment is beyond me. And for them now not to do anything within their collective means to spare him the struggle with his life is simply inhumane.
One can only hope and pray that compassion, if not combined with common sense, will prevail and the decision-makers in this country will be guided by the Almighty so that Anwar will not have to suffer much longer.
