The Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex Skyway) has been cancelled. Matter closed. Menteri besar cancels Kidex. Kidex will not be in the Petaling Jaya Structural Plans (RTPJ 2) or Selangor State Structural Plan 2035. Umno’s draft enactment to introduce Kidex for approval in the Selangor state assembly was defeated, selangor sultan urges public transportation. Victory for all the people of Selangor, particularly Petaling Jaya city residents.

That was the news in February 2015, lots of appreciations, flowers, fruit baskets and thank yous. Was it worth it? Is the matter closed? Let’s look at the Kidex Skyway today in September 2015.

Now, to our dismay we find that the Kidex Skyway is there in the Selangor Structural Plan 2035. What went wrong? Is the menteri besar and his administration calling the shots in Selangor? God help us. No! No! You must be mistaken, this never would this have happened. Yes, yes, it has indeed happened right under our noses with the Town and Country Planning Department confirming the same and stating it was put in by mistake. Come on, do your really believe that?

All these may be the usual stealthy practices of little napoleons among the civil service or careless coordination. Whatever, it contradicts with the competency, accountability and transparency factors promoted by the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor.

Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Mohamed Azmin Ali, Dato Menteri Besar Selangor, look what has happened, would your state executive councillors join you in taking a small share of the blame, after all it is collective leadership, is it not? We trust someone would care to explain how this mistake passed under your administration.

The question on everyone’s mind is what were your officers, your staff and your state assemblypersons doing? How did this come for public viewing and comments when it was clearly stated that the Kidex Skyway is out publicly and in the state assembly during the last budget sitting, hence it is only expected that the elected representatives speak up to protect their own credibility.

We trust this was some kind of wake up call to the voters of Selangor to check the small print as our elected members of parliament and state assemblypersons have not even with the pay rise and additional staff been unable to highlight and inform the voters of the developments on this matter.

Public trust is at the lowest, why is the word of the menteri besar is not translated into action by his own administration? By that I mean assemblypersons, officers and staff. What? Wait, no action that it was a mistake? Please, we know better?

Mistake, we too say mistake in the ‘Kajang move’, GE13 and our trust in ‘ubah’, ‘reformasi’, ‘demi rakyat’ and ‘rakyat hakimi negara’. The saying ‘shape up or ship out’ would make some sense here!

Get your act together, if members of your administration cannot work with you, get them out. Do not let them help ship your administration out. Your voters are watching your every move. Just watch out for them, too.

On the first anniversary of your appointment as menteri besar and your administration, we wish you many, many more happy years in government.

Together we can make Selangor great. The people trust your leadership and your proper administration. Till then only our prayers are with you.

To err is only human, to forgive divine. We the people of Petaling Jaya are not divine, we are human too. We care for our families, we earn a living and want to continue to do so for many, many years to come under the present government. Please do not take that away from us, we pray.
