I read with disbelief of the construction of a multi-million 'exco village' by the Selangor state government. Surely it is a waste to spend millions of taxpayers' money on the construction of bungalows and a clubhouse solely for the enjoyment of the state executive councillors.

Aren't these the same group of politicians who when a general election is looming would 'turun padang' to seek the people's votes, telling all and sundry that they want to serve them?

However, after being elected, the ordinary folk hardly get a glimpse of them unless there is a photo opportunity in the kampung or housing estate.

Instead of spending so much for the construction of only 10 bungalows and a clubhouse, the money could be spent to provide more affordable housing for the people. I believe the Selangor state government intends to eradicate squatters before the next general election comes around.

It is hardly amazing anymore that in our country, those who are responsible for foolhardy and irresponsible decisions involving taxpayers' money rarely get reprimanded, let alone be charged in court for such actions.

I think it is about time the prime minister take cognisance of the abuses being perpetrated by some members of the ruling coalition. It does not look good for the government of the day to be embarrassingly exposed by the press and NGOs and having a high-level official saying 'Semuanya OK' when everyone knows it is not.
