Indonesian envoy must be removed
I refer to your report Indon lawmakers summon envoy to M'sia for 'degrading' apology . The apology ins question refers to the burning of the Malaysian flag and anti-Malaysia demonstrations by Indonesians following their government's move to muscle in on Malaysian territory in the Sulawesi sea.
I would like to draw particular attention to one of the envoy's statements in the report which went as follows: 'At the start of the Pacific war, the Japanese ambassador in Washington still bowed but he made a report to Tokyo and said please go ahead attack the Pearl Harbor because America is unguarded'.
The statement by Indonesian ambassador seems to have delivered a very firm conclusion on Indonesian's stand on the Sulawesi matter. His statement can only be interpreted in one way.
Umno Youth deputy head Khairy Jamaluddin may be very happy with Rusdiharjo's apology but in actual fact he has been fooled by the Indonesian ambassador.
The 1967 Konfrontasi should serve as a reminder to our younger generation that our national sovereignty was once threatened by Indonesia with the popular support of university students there.
Now, a similar sentiment under the banner of 'Ganyang Malaysia 2' seems to be emerging following the Sulawesi incident. A key difference between 1967 and now is that Indonesia has a sizable asset already in place in our country.
The continued presence of Rusdihardjo on Malaysian soil would be inadvisable as he is a former Indonesian police chief with a four-star general rank. His military background could easily facilitate intelligence operations should the situation warrant it.
It would therefore be expedient to remove Rusdihardjo as the Indonesian envoy to Malaysia.
