What we need is a united front of independents

I have been a proponent for the need to group together loyal, passionate, knowledgeable, and successful Malaysians as “United Independents,” offering our services as potential MPs and assemblypersons in the 14th General Election.

This coalition of the willing can be a formidable presence, with a common manifesto and logo, and with valid and solid reasons to effectively bring about the “real change” Malaysians aspire to see.

For a start, I would like to propose that NGOs, private (and public) institutions, universities, colleges, societies, trade unions, ex-civil servants, professional bodies, retirees, student leaders, activists and concerned individuals throughout Malaysia nominate their best representatives as candidates for a coalition of United Independents, for both parliamentary and state assembly seats to be contested in the coming GE14.

This is certainly the best and surest way for the people to trust leaders who will independently and equitably serve the nation, committed only to a common manifesto that reflects the people’s aspirations.

These are the genuine aspirations of Malaysians who need an administration characterised by transparency and good governance. Replacing both “fake coalitions,” Barisan National and Pakatan Harapan, with a united front of independents is our only alternative, and is needed to ensure capable lawmakers are introduced in every election, elected to office based on their merits alone.

This would be the best way climb out of the political mire and achieve our dream Malaysia.
