I refer to your report Act against me, Samy dares PAC .
It seems very unbecoming of this senior politician and long-standing works minister to dare the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) against certain unresolved matters pertaining to his ministry.
If every minister behaves like S Samy Vellu, then there is no need for accountability. The prime minister needs to instruct Samy to attend a meeting with the PAC and answer all these unresolved matters without fail.
Samy needs to realise that he is answerable to the rakyat for having accepted the appointment as works minister. If Samy feels that he has suddenly become indispensable, then the prime minister needs to take immediate steps to remove him from office and also as a member of parliament since he is unable to account for his action when demands are made to him.
The PAC has every right to institute contempt of parliament proceedings against Samy if he fails to appear before the PAC. Samy had won on a Barisan Nasional ticket and not on his own capabilities.
Samy is a capable works minister but when he fails to follow routine then he has failed in his duty. Samy needs to realise that the PAC is not the MIC that he presides over. The rakyat is not interested in what is going on in the MIC at the moment and he should not use this as an excuse for not attending a very important meeting since billions of the rakyat's monies is involved.
If the prime minister allows Samy to do what he wants, then the public is going to lose further confidence in his government and the Barisan Nasional. The time has come for our prime minister to act.
