Musa Hassan must be congratulated for being appointed the next inspector-general of police (IGP) of the country. It will be a source of pride and satisfaction to his family to know that he has assumed the highest position in the police force. With such achievement, he will later retire with full pension and will look back towards his service for the country with a lot of satisfaction.

It is indeed an antipathy when we look at the life of one of the former IGPs who has lost his pension as a result of the court sentence accorded him; no thanks to the infamous black eye incident that tarnished the image of the country.

Musa Hassan will receive massive accolades, showered with unending congratulations and praises. It also reminds me of one incident when I was in Bukit Aman, overawed with the kind of aura surrounding a man of the highest position in the police force. I could feel that the world was at standstill when former IGP Norian Mai was walking towards the lift where I was standing because everyone around was all standing erect, saluting him against a backdrop of pin-drop silence.

I remember telling myself then, I would do anything to be an IGP. I could feel the power reverberating through the air. It was awesome.

For me, I always remember SAC Musa Hassan. He was instrumental in getting a mattress brought in and out of the court as a material evidence in an infamous court trial that tarnished the image of the country. Everyone knows that the said evidence was expunged by the presiding judge. Perhaps the mattress should be preserved in a museum to be viewed by the generations to come!
