I hear you, brother (or sister!) but I do not think you have encountered the Champion of Deceit and Inefficiency - Maxis! Yes, Maxis, Maxis of 012/017 and the slick advertising fame. Those guys are good! Compared to Maxis, I am sure TMNet must be small bananas. There is this notion that government bodies are absolutely incompetent, which I would hardly want to dispute, but our private sector's Maxis is up there with the worst of the worst.

Almost from the day I installed Maxis' broadband service in my house, I have been having nothing but trouble with the service, and I am not even talking about being billed for services and facilities Maxis never provided me and other similar delights. So I was compelled to phone them and here is where I believe Maxis excels as subscribers are required a practice a particularly high degree of patience before they are attended to.

That done, I wait. After waiting for several days, with nobody having visited my house except for the postman and the newspaperman, I decide that the next option would be to visit the Maxis office. Having explained in the gentlest possible terms that I have had enough of their nonsense and want to see a senior officer, I meet the Senior Officer.

And get more of the 'Yes, sir! No, sir!' spiel. The only difference is that the senior officer is even better!

'Here sir, take my direct contact number. If nobody visits or phones you by 10.37am tomorrow, call me and I will take immediate action, sir!'. I'm sure you have heard it. No visit, no call, and to top it all, nobody answers the 'direct' number. I told you, these guys are good!

I have paid for a wireless connection but the technician who finally came helpfully informed me that my 'router' was out of order and promised to send someone to change it. It has been 10 days now and the guy with the router seems to have taken the wrong route to my house.

So what can I do? Nothing, I suppose, and chalk all this up to Life in Malaysia.
