I refer to the Malaysiakini report Eye on Malaysia vs Singapore Flyer .
The report was a real eye-opener and believe me, no pun is intended. To perhaps coincide with Malaysia's Merdeka joy and to prove to disbelievers that 'Somebody Up There' is indeed in Malaysia's corner, it is obvious that this 'clash' is a no-contest.
Titiwangsa's attraction is heads and shoulders above what is being offered by that Little Dot That Could. We will win hands down in the race for the almighty tourist dollar.
For one thing, those wanting to take the ride in Malaysia need pay only RM15 for an adult, while in Singapore, the cost is S$29.50 and in case the point misses you, this translates to RM67.85.
But the real clincher Malaysia has over the Singapore pretenders is the on-board services offered. Whatever Singapore may lavish on the riders, it pales in comparison with the comforts and delights available in our Eye on Malaysia 'VIP Gondola'.
Can Singapore match the mini-fridge, DVD player and plasma TV? Just imagine the eager tourist's untold bliss when after spending a spell of time in the sun or rain, he boards the gondola to find these pleasures awaiting him. It would be a childhood-dream come true!
Riding the skies and in the process being able to catch maybe 'Desperate Housewives', 'National Geographic' or even (be still, my beating heart!) RTM's 'Berita Nasional! There is also the possibility of the added bonus that the mini-fridge may actually have beverages stocked up in them.
Providing a DVD player and plasma TV for the Eye on Malaysia ride is a stroke of sheer brilliance, something only we can achieve in our quest to reach greater heights. Move over, Singapore, we are 'numero uno'. Yeah, Malaysia Boleh!
