I refer to the letter 'The silent partner in Nanyang takeover' (June 11 ) by Peter Shen. The Nanyang affair has generated a lot of interest, discussions and opinions on this website.

But this is the first time that somebody actually alleged that the prime minister had issued the directive to MCA to take over Nanyang.

Most readers who write to malaysiakini back their opinions, no matter whether it is right or wrong, with facts and figures, especially when they allege somebody of certain wrongdoings.

Mr Shen should do the same. Simply by quoting that the source of the news comes from 'a senior journalist' without identifying him, will put Mr Shen's letter in the same category as 'rumours only'. We should keep malaysiakini as a forum for intelligent discussion whereby all views and opinions are backed by facts and figures.
