I refer to the Malaysiakini article ISA needed for absolute national security.

It is not only preposterous but highly mischievous for the writer to suggest that the ISA is necessary for absolute security in the country. As he has proudly asserted himself to be an Umno member when making the above remarks, one can only conclude that he is equating the country's security with Umno's security.

And this is highly presumptuous of the writer to do so, with Umno wanting all Malaysians to cocoon themselves like it does under its proverbial coconut shell when it should, like them, be adapting to globalisation changes.

Let the writer be reminded that Umno has become an anachronism and is no longer synonymous with the Malays, let alone Malaysians. In fact more and more Malays have begun to regard Umno as the mother of evils in this country.

The writer should take note of the results of the March 8 General Election and the Permatang Pauh by-election on 26 Aug as indications of this trend. Before the writer starts lapsing into more "virtues" of the ISA to sing the praises of his Umno masters, let him ponder for a second the feelings of anguish of the relatives of ISA victims, the latest being Marina Lee, wife or Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Would the writer want his wife or other family members to experience the anxiety and anguish of Marina if he were to be detained under the ISA, the worst part being the incarceration in a 6ft x 8ft windowless cell for up to 60 days before they sign the detention order to confine you in Kamunting?

Let writer himself answer this question. There is no point for him to ramble on about the dangers of Anwar Ibrahim or other political enemies of Umno as people are not interested in the Umno propaganda which he spews.

In fact the real dangers to the people are racists like Ahmad Ismail and Khir Toyo who are bent on stoking racial tensions to create racial trouble, which would give the government an excuse to declare a state of emergency and end democracy in this country, just like what they did on May 13, 1969. Incidentally it is interesting to note that the writer had good things to say about this tragedy in Kuala Lumpur almost 40 years ago.

There is enough negative coverage of the writer in the media and the notorious role he played as a diplomat in Anwar’s first sodomy trial in 1998, so I need not repeat them here. But suffice to say the writer, like his Umno masters, insults the intelligence of the people by continuing to paint the virtues of a party and a government that refuses to give up power at all costs, even when the people have rejected it.

My advice to the writer is that he thinks before he opens his mouth. I think its best that he quietly enjoys his life as a retired diplomat if he does not want a ton of bricks to descend on him from all those who have suffered under the draconian ISA.
