I refer to the Malaysiakini report Umno sacks Zaid .

Umno first demanded an explanation from Zaid Ibrahim for having attended the PKR congress on Saturday.

He had done nothing wrong. This is what is termed as maturity. Like Lim Kit Siang said, he even went to the opening ceremony of the Umno headquarters.

All over the world, ministers and the opposition work together and launch products and services hand-in-hand. They look at the greater picture and deep inside want to serve society and their voters

This is how a mature of society works.

How are we going to achieve Vision 2020 and a developed nation status when we are so petty and cannot tap the knowledge of brilliant opposition members? Could it be the fact that Zaid went for the PKR congress to tap their knowledge and brainstorm ideas?

After all, within the PKR, there are some brilliant men. Zaid being very intelligent himself, probably wanted to enhance his knowledge by picking the brains of the top brains within the opposition.

This is why our universities don't rank highly in the world rankings. It is because we are taught not to discuss and brainstorm ideas amongst ourselves. In Western universities, they are taught to probe, investigate and research in order to develop their creativity and thinking skills and to develop a pool of ideas.

I recall some young UiTM law graduates I spoke to before who said that they would never work with Karpal Singh because he was with the opposition. This is how mature their thoughts were.

If I were a budding lawyer, I would be privileged to tap the knowledge and brilliance of Karpal Singh. I bet if I were to chamber under him, I would one day be a highly-skilled lawyer.

Well, the UiTM law graduates I spoke to are like our politicians. Some are immature and cannot think ‘outside the box’. They don't know how to work together amongst the ruling parties and the opposition to brainstorm for creativity and ideas.

Now you know why our universities are ranked so low in the world rankings. The problem in Malaysia is the fact that some politicians have no interest in serving their voters. They have no dedication for the rakyat 's best interests.

Thus, they find it difficult working with the opposition and the ruling parties for the greater good of the nation, society and people. These few politicians just want to serve their own pockets. The attitude is one ‘How much can I make before my term is over?’

Please be reminded that as a politician, your job is to serve society and the people in general. It is not about how many houses you can buy in London or how much barang you can buy from Selfridges and Harrods and so on.

We laugh at Western countries but we must learn from the politicians there who have progressed with maturity to work with one another for the greater good of their countries.

It is here that I will praise Lim Kit Siang. He is of the calibre that wants to serve society and the rakyat comes first. His pocket is not important for him, that is why he travels AirAsia here and there, unlike many others who spend millions travelling here and there globally.

Instead of sending a sports delegation and spending millions of pounds trying to learn how athletes may perform better with a Malaysian sports complex in London, I suggest we send a delegation of Malaysian ministers to Westminister in London so they can learn from their foreign counterparts, especially from the opposition parties, on how to ultimately serve society.

Labour and Conservative may argue with each other in the Parliament there but at the end of the day, they work for the greater good of the voters and society in England and Wales.

I have on many occasions seen a Labour MP sitting down and having coffee with a Conservative MP to have a chat and discuss ideas.

Will this ever be a reality or a possibility in Malaysia between ruling and opposition MPs? Or are we too immature to even have a discussion?
