I refer to the Malaysiakini article Let's talk about 'Ketuanan Bukan Melayu' for a bit.

The writer, in my opinion, is a typical Umno supporter and apologist, who conveniently and mischievously diverts attention to another matter which is the consequence of Umno’s wrong doing in the first place.

Like his Umno masters, he prefers to sweep the problem under the carpet as he cannot refute their wrong doings and instead points an accusing finger at all those who have managed to cope with it. Typical Umno logic.

Did the writer ever pause to ponder that had Umno not resorted to all those racially discriminatory policies in the first place, there would not have been non-Malays predominating in certain sectors of the private sector, something he finds so objectionable and alludes to as ‘discrimination’ against Malays on the part of non-Malays?

Instead, he has the cheek to say this is Ketuanan Bukan Melayu to give the impression that Umno is hurt and therefore justified in its efforst to continue discrimination in the name of Ketuanan Melayu .

If the writer is not a racist, then he should rightly condemn all of Umno’s racist policies, which are too numerous to mention here. Only when these racist policies are removed will the country move forward.

It is high time that the writer be reminded of the evils of Umno’s continuing mischievous one-upmanship antics. There is no justification for such racist policies, except if the present government subscribes to the Apartheid system of racial segregation.

So long as an outdated but not out of sight Ketuanan Melayu principle continues, this country will not only never progress like it ought to, given its abundant natural resources, it will also regress to the status of Zimbabwe where bags of money can’t even buy half a loaf of bread.

Racist policies will never bring progress. What hope is there for our country if political warlords continue to milk the country’s resources dry, all in the name of unfair affirmative policies?
