Some 100 people staged a peaceful protest outside the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Penang office at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah this morning.

The protesters demanded for an investigation into the death of Teoh Beng Hock.

NONE Teoh, who was working as the political secretary to Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hean Wah, is said to have plunged to his death from the Plaza Masalam building in Shah Alam, Selangor, yesterday.

The 30-year-old journalist was last seen at the MACC Selangor office - located on the 14th floor of the building - where he was brought in for questioning over investigations into alleged misappropriation of funds by his boss.

'We want an explanation'

The crowd consisted of DAP and PKR members, several state assemblypersons and NGO representatives.

Many of them were clad in black and held placards demanding for thorough probe.

Among those present were Wong Hon Wai (Air Itam assemblyperson) and Liew Chin Tong (MP Bukit Bendera).

"We are here to express our anger towards what has happened (to Teoh) and demand that MACC gives us an explanation for this." said Wong.

He also called the MACC probe against Selangor Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives as "selective prosecution" with unfair investigative methods.

"What happened yesterday made it the most tragic day in 43 years of DAP history, and one of the saddest days for Malaysia as a nation," Lim added.

Lim Guan Eng's political secretary Ng Wei Aik was also at the scene and urged the protesters to cooperate with the police by dispersing.
