PKR deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali today welcomed outspoken former state information chief Tan Tee Beng's move to resign from the party should he opt to do so.

pkr congress 2007 250507 syed husin "Nobody will stop him. He may go if he wants," said Syed Husin ( right ) laughingly when contacted.

When asked if he would issue Tan marching orders if he continues criticising the party, Syed said:

"We have not heard his case yet. However, he will be given the chance to defend himself."

Earlier, Tan claimed that he had received an SMS from Syed Husin asking him to ‘stop criticising’ Pakatan Rakyat’s component party.

Willing to be sacked

He said that he was willing to be sacked for going against the party. “I will continue speaking my mind even if the party decides to haul me up before the disciplinary committee.

“Unless and until PKR takes a stand and looks into the concerns raised, I will not keep quiet even if it means that I’ll be sacked from the party,” he was reported in The Star as saying.

He also claimed that he has the support of many party members.

Various party leaders have warned stern action against the defiant Tan, who had treaded on a few toes.

Yesterday, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's chief of staff Jeff Ooi called on the party to take affirmative action to resolve the issue relating to its members making personal attacks on Lim.

Tan, who is also Nibong Tebal member of parliament, labeled Lim as a leader without class.

However, Lim  has opted to remain silent and to let facts speak for themselves.
