PKR organ Suara Keadilan has published an explosive allegation that Nasir Safar, the former aide to the prime minister, was present when policemen abducted slain Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

azlan According to the report, private investigator P Balasubramaniam had confirmed that Nasir, who recently resigned after courting controversy with his alleged racist remarks, was at the scene.

Balasubramaniam, who is currently abroad, had apparently mentioned this to his lawyer Americk Sidhu after stumbling on Nasir's photograph in a blog.

Contacted later, Nasir declined to comment on the allegation for now, saying that he would hold a press conference soon.

Nasir, a former Johor state assemblyperson, is said to be a 'loyalist' of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan also declined to comment.

"This matter has already been tried in court," he said, when contacted.

In April 2009, the Shah Alam High Court had imposed the death sentence on two policemen from the elite special operations force for the murder.

The police officers, Azilah Hadri, 32 and Sirul Azhar Umar, 37 have since appealed against the decision.

Balasubramaniam, a former special branch officer, had made public a statutory in 2008 linking then Najib, who was then deputy premier, to Altantuya’s death.

However, the document was retracted within 24 hours, before Balasubramaniam and his family fled the country.

In the statutory declaration , Balasubramaniam mentioned that a blue proton saga, driven by a Malay man (now claimed to be Nasir), passed by slowly, and the driver’s window was wound down.

In a series of video interviews last year, Balasubramaniam stood by his declaration, saying that that he had left after being threatened by Najib’s younger brother, Nazim.

He also alleged that carpet merchant Deepak Jaikishen and prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor had offered him RM5 million to recant the declaration.
