"Unsanctioned" anti-Pakatan Rakyat propoganda struck again last night, joining the final sprint to the finish line of the Hulu Selangor by-election.

NONE The newest batch of material was found at a dinner for Chinese voters hosted by MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek with his deputy Liow Tiong Lai and Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Noh Omar in Hulu Yam.

While some of it could pass off as mere political satire, the bulk of the propaganda took swipes at Pakatan scandals both new and old, including the tar brush strokes of "kaki-botol" and "kaki-judi"  on Zaid.

Even the controversial pictures of Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong, which caused a scandal in early 2009, made a comeback.

The propaganda material was distributed in several ways, from newsletters to an 18-page comic book, a small booklet and pamphlets.

NONE Two pamphlets, published in Chinese, accused the Pakatan of racist policies that shaved away the rights of the Chinese in the states it ruled such as the demolition of a pig abattoir and the 50 percent quota for bumiputera housing in Kedah, and the proposed alcohol ban in Selangor.

'Us and no-one else' claim

One of the pamphlets, dubbed "Selangor Special", also accused the Pakatan of scaring away potential foreign investors with their internal politicking and declared that the BN is the only coalition that can properly manage the country.

NONE Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein denied that the material, the work of unknown hands, had anything to do with the BN machinery.

Seeing the pamphlets spread out on a table when accompanying Prime Minister Najib Razak for a visit to the media centre in Kuala Kubu Bharu, he took an immediate interest and asked journalists for details related to them.

Hishamuddin stressed that it is not something that the BN would sanction and said that he will investigate the matter.

"If we had done this in Chinese areas, it would definitely backfire on us," he said, when asked if he knew about the propaganda material.

NONE The anti-Pakatan material first cropped up in Hulu Selangor just moments before the start of nomination last week, with doctored photos of Zaid holding an alcoholic drink getting swift circulation in the district.

The move seemed to catch the Pakatan by surprise, especially Zaid, who admitted having consumed alcohol after being grilled by journalists.
