Several disgruntled voters of Hulu Selangor lodged police reports today over the unequal distribution of cash during the constituency's by-election on Sunday.

Met at the district police headquarters in Kuala Kubu Bahru, their representative Othman Moin ( below, left ) said that 10 people mainly Orang Asli, from various areas in the constituency have filed police reports.

Some were disappointed when the promise of cash for voting as directed was not kept, the others were at the police station because they were threatened, he added.

Although, Othman said there were 10 reports, only one person was seen with a copy in hand.

According to Chambah Mohamad, 53, from Kampung Orang Asli in Serendah, the electorate in his village were promised RM100 each after casting their ballots.

Polling stations switched claim

"I don't know who they were but I didn't get the money," said Chambah when asked if he knew which party was handing out the cash.

In his report, Chambah stated that his friends had informed him that they were given the sum after voting.

"All my friends were rewarded... I'm dissatisfied because I got nothing," he said.

Othman added that there were more than a hundred people who were going to do the same but withdrew at the last minute.

"I'm not sure why, but the reports I received yesterday stated that they didn't vote because their polling stations had been changed," he said.

A source claimed that as soon as news got around about voters going to the police, several local leaders warned them against doing so.

"There were a few villagers who were intimidated by local MIC and Umno leaders.

"According to them, they were warned not to go the police.

"They asked me what to do, so I told them don't be intimidated by them and just file the report," said the source.
