Three days after undergoing heart surgery, independent parliamentarian and Malay rights NGO Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali is now able to walk and talk.
According to Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali, the Pasir Mas MP has also been transferred out of the intensive care unit.
"He has a VIP room in the general ward. He underwent some physiotherapy today as he was confined to bed for a few days," he told Malaysiakini when contacted yesterday.
He added that the vocal politician is also able to have normal conversations, but doctors have limited the number of visitors so that the patient can rest.
He is expected to be discharged from the hospital sometime next week.

two -hour surgery
at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
He was advised to go under the knife after he complained of feeling ill several weeks ago, and was warded at the intensive care unit on Oct 16.
Prominent figures, including sparring mate Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin ( above right in photo ), called on the controversial politician.
