The row between Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) leaders and its sacked member Larry Sng, who is an assistant minister in the Chief Minister's Office, has stretched to the party placing a half-page advertisement in a local newspaper denouncing Sng's claims to popularity.

NONE Headed "Figures Tell", the advertisement on page 14 of the Borneo Post lists the number of votes and percentages PRS candidates secured in their constituencies in the 2006 state election.

Among the nine PRS candidates in 2006, Sng  came fourth in terms of the percentage of votes he secured in Pelagus against the voter turnout. He obtained 5,965 votes or 63.45 percent of the 9,401 people who voted.

PRS president James Masing came out tops by percentage. Masing, who is also Sarawak land development minister, secured 5,330 votes or 89.48 percent of the votes cast in Balleh by 5,956 people.

larry sng Assistant minister of rural local councils John Sikie Tayai came in second with 68.07 percent or 3,739 votes out of the 5,493 who voted in Kakus, while Joseph Mauh Ikeh got the third highest, securing 66.05 percent or 4,639 of the 7,023 votes cast.

In an interview with a local newspaper, Sng ( left ) claimed that he garnered the second highest number of votes in the 2006 election and that this was proof of his popularity.

Asked about the advertisement, Wilfred Nissom of PRS said the party was not rebutting Sng's claim.

"We just gave the statistics (in the advertisement) to prove our point. It tells who is lying and who is not," Nissom said.
