Malay rights NGO Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) has lodged a police report on media reports of efforts to "usurp" Islam's position as the country's official religion.

"If what was reported was true, then it is seditious for the Christian community to spread their religion in various ways so that their believers can become the majority in the country.

"I am concerned that this approach will fan anger among the Muslims in this country," he said in his police report.

The daily had quoted the story from a pro-Umno blog bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com, which in the end credited no one.

Speaking to reporters after filing the police complaint at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Sharifuddin said that the move can also throw the national security into jeopardy since Islam is the official religion.

He said that the Perkasa branches in other states will also be lodging police reports.

However, it will be within the confines of law.

"We won't act emotionally. We just hope that the police will investigate this," he said.
