The police will seek an inquest into the death of senior Customs Department officer Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, who mysteriously fell to his death at the Kuala Lumpur headquarters of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

NONE According to Star Online today, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail has agreed to the police recommendation for an inquest, according to Kuala Lumpur criminal investigation department head Ku Chin Wah.

"The question of when the inquest would be held is left to the magistrate,"

he said, without elaborating, when contacted  by Bernama today.

Ahmad Sarbani had allegedly plunged to his death from the third-floor of the building on Jalan Cochrane on April 6 when he came, apparently voluntarily, to meet a MACC officer.

He had been detained on April 1 to facilitate investigations by the MACC into alleged graft and money laundering activities, along with 61 others. He was released on bail two days before his death.

Ahmad Sarbani's friends and family suspect foul play and maintain that he was innocent.

Previously, it was reported that police have quizzed 44 people in regards to Sarbani's death.
